Wellness Fitness Benefits

New benefit gives employees access to middle-school tracks, exercise equipment

The District has announced a new opportunity for employees to enhance their wellness by providing access to three middle schools’ indoor tracks and fitness centers before and after school. Employees will be able to use their badge to access one of three schools once they have requested permission.

Currently, employees can choose to go to Butler Middle School, Draper Park Middle School or Mount Jordan Middle School. Employees may request access by emailing everett.perry@canyonsdistrict.org and specifying which school they would like to use. IT will be notified and they will add your badge to an assigned door at the school so that you can enter during the available hours.

Employees are expected to wipe down exercise machines after use and throw any trash in the provided bins.

Limitations: At this time, we cannot allow family or friends to utilize the facilities. Showers will not be available as there may be students accessing the locker rooms at the schools.

Availability

Butler Middle School: 6-7:30 a.m.; 3:15-9 p.m.
Draper Park Middle School: 6:15-7:30 a.m.; 3-9 p.m.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
