District Leaders

Dr. McKay Robinson

Superintendent

A career educator who has been with Canyons District since its earliest days, Dr. McKay Robinson assumed the role of Superintendent on July 1, 2026. The 25-year educator has more than a dozen years of leadership experience, having served as CSD’s Assistant Superintendent, School Performance Director of Elementary Schools, and Principal of Lone Peak and Sandy elementary schools. He got his start teaching at Sprucewood Elementary, following in the footsteps of a third-grade teacher whose mentorship made a lasting difference in his life. Vowing to pay that gift forward, Dr. Robinson’s caring, student-centric and approachable, yet decisive, leadership style was a valuable asset during the COVID-19 health crisis for which he was named CSD’s 2022 Administrator of the Year. Among the additional honors he’s earned are the 2012 Rookie of the Year Award from the Utah Association of Elementary School Principals, the 2016 Innovator of the Year Award from the Canyons Association of Elementary School Principals, and the Utah State University’s 2000 Teacher of Tomorrow Award. Dr. Robinson has a Doctor of Education from the University of Utah, a master’s degree in teaching and master’s in educational leadership from Brigham Young University, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Utah State University. He lives in Herriman with his wife Dixie.

Mindy Robison

Assistant Superintendent

Canyons School District named veteran educator Mindy Robison as its new Assistant Superintendent April 21, 2026, elevating a homegrown leader who has spent more than a decade serving the schools that shaped her. A 27-year educator, who spent her formative years enrolled in several Canyons schools, she most recently served as School Performance Director of Middle Schools, supervising and coaching principals, leading professional learning for administrators, and working across departments to build support for schools. As lead of the High-Quality Learning Committee, she has focused on strengthening Professional Learning Communities where teachers work together to review student data, align instruction, and respond to individual student needs. She also served as Principal of Midvale Middle and Crescent Elementary, as a District math specialist, and many years in the classroom as a middle school math teacher. Robison holds a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning from the University of Utah and a bachelor’s degree in history and mathematics education from Brigham Young University. She earned her administrative certification from Utah State University. She was named Utah Secondary Administrator of the Year in 2022 by the Utah Association of Secondary School Principals and Utah Career and Technical Education Principal of the Year in 2021. Robison lives in Salt Lake with her husband George.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
