The Canvas Basics courses provide the opportunity for CSD educators to explore the basic functions of Canvas needed to get their Canvas courses set up and ready for student access and use. Each course is .05 credits and credit is awarded upon the submission of assignments that allow the participant to demonstrate their understanding and competency. The CSD Essentials: Level 1 Educational Technology Certification course has been designed to support employees in gaining a solid foundation in key software applications used in Canyon School District. 2 USBE credits will be awarded upon the submission of assignments that allow the participant to demonstrate their understanding and competency. This course will walks educators through the Fundamental Training resources and materials available through the Google Teacher Center to help them become proficient with using Google Workspace for Education (CSDDocs) tools in the classroom. This course will culminate in the Google Certified Educator Level 1 exam. 1 USBE credit is awarded upon the submission of the educator’s Google Certified Educator Level 1 certificate. This course will walk educators through the Advanced Training resources and materials available through the Google Teacher Center to help them become proficient with using Google Workspace for Education (CSDDocs) tools in the classroom. The purpose of this course is to self-assess, develop and reflect on your own Professional Growth and Leadership specifically in educational technology. This course has been aligned with USBE’s Professional Growth and Leadership section of the educational technology endorsement program. LanSchool Air enables teachers to view students’ screens in real-time, share their own screen or specific applications, control Internet access, remotely lock screens, and send messages to individual students or the entire class. Thanks to the Utah legislature, all Utah educators have access to Nearpod’s premium plus features. To support this access and eliminate the need to create an account, all Canyons School District educators have Nearpod accounts created and set up for them using their @canyonsdistrict.org emails. Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
