Resources

The Canyons School District Science and Engineering Fair (CSDSEF) will be held in person for the 26-27 school year!  Finalists from Canyons schools will be sent to compete in the CSDSEF.  Finalists from the CSDSEF will have the opportunity to compete at the University of Utah Science and Engineering Fair (USEF). 

Students who qualified to advance from their school fairs will receive letters from their teachers with registration instructions.  

Fair Schedule

January 15 – Registration Deadline

January 25 – Project Set Up & Judging (Canyons Center)

  • 4:00-5:00 PM – Elementary (5th & 6th Grade) Project Set Up & Judging 
  • 5:00-6:00 PM – Secondary (7th – 12th Grade) Project Set Up & Judging

January 26 – Project Take Down and Awards Presentation (PEAKS Center)

  • 4:00 – 5:30 PM – Open House & Project Take Down
  • 5:30 – 6:00 PM – Awards presentation and Regional Fair Informational Meeting

Gizmos are interactive online simulations and case studies for science that power inquiry and understanding through hands-on learning and experimentation.  All middle school science teachers in CSD, and all middle school science students have access to gizmos.  This interactive tools is evidence based, and provides so many fun learning opportunities.  

To get started, make sure you log into to Canyons Classlink account.  Once in search for Explore Learning icon.  Each year you will need to sign in again as a new teacher to sync the rostering. Follow these instructions for first time login each year:  Gizmo Teacher Sign In Instructions

Once you’ve logged in, you will need to give access to each class of students.   Enable Access Instructions

Students also sign in using Canyons Clever Account, and their csddocs account. Student Login Instructions

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
