It’s been said that it takes a big heart to shape little minds. These big hearts — the roster of Teachers of the Year from every Canyons District school and program since 2010 — are the top-notch educators who have inspired generations of students to reach for their dreams through education. Each spring, CSD celebrates the art and skill of teaching with the Teacher of the Year selection process, which begins with a public-nomination window and culminates in a glitzy announcement ceremony for the entire CSD community. Per tradition, Canyons school communities select one Teacher of the Year to the honored at the local level. From that field of school-based honorees, the Canyons Administration, after reviewing student achievement data and evaluating instructional practices, choses one overall Canyons District Teacher of the Year. That teacher, who receives additional prizes from the Canyons Education Foundation and major donors, also becomes Canyons’ nominee for Utah’s Teacher of the Year honors.
