CSD offers two online editing tools that are great to help you in creating content for your website.

Canva is a great asset that is available to any CSD employee with their csddocs.org account.

Adobe Express  (formerly Adobe Spark) is also a free editing tool for CSD employees.

SCC

Agendas = 7 days prior to meeting.

Minutes (Draft) = As soon as possible.

Canyons School District would like to have all Meeting Dates and Council Members posted by October 1

This ensures that each school will be in compliance by the October 20th State Requirement date.

This will happen time to time, however we must keep a record of any canceled meetings.

This will take two steps.  ( View Tutorial Here )

  1. Notate in the meeting date that it was canceled.
SCC > Annual Details > School Year > Meeting Date > Note “type in cancel” > Update
  2. Create an “other”  in Minutes and Agendas. This step is important as it will follow along into the archives.   SCC> Minutes and Agendas > Add New > Select date > Select “Other”> Erase title and replace with “Canceled”> Publish

Here is the canvas course walk-through on how to add Minutes and Agendas.

Minutes must be approved through a motion in SCC Meetings. This happens during the following month’s meeting.

  • Post minutes as Minutes -Draft
  • The following month change previous month Minutes-Draft  to Minutes.
  • Post the current meeting minutes as Minutes-Draft

EXAMPLE:

Sept 9: Patty Principal emails Mary Manager yesterday’s meeting minutes.

Sept 10: Mary creates a new Minutes page. She selects: Sept 8th and Minutes (Draft)

Oct 9: Patty Principal emails Mary Manager yesterday’s meeting minutes.

Oct 10: Mary creates a new Minutes page. She selects: Oct 8th and Minutes (Draft). Then she opens the Sept 8 Minutes and changes the selection to Minutes.

Following this protocol, please note that the final meeting minutes of the school year will not be approved until the first meeting of the following school year.

It’s that time again, to roll over to the new SCC school year.  To learn more on how to update to the newest year watch this tutorial.

Directories

Here is the canvas course walk-through on how to add Employees to the directory.

First thing I ask is,

Is this employee new to Canyons?

Is this a school employee or a district employee (RN, OT etc)?

If they are new then they have not been completed getting set up in the Active Directory. New employee information goes between three different departments before it is set up in the directory.  Give it a few more days and try again.  If they still are not showing up, go ahead and reach out to me janell.myrick@canyonsdistrict.org

If they are a district employee follow the canvas tutorial on adding or removing employees. If they are new,  you may have to wait for the active directory to be processed.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
