Staying the Course • Crossing the Finish Line of the COVID-19 School Year

The pandemic finish line is in sight, and — as with any marathon — we need to stay the course and keep up our stamina in order to safely put this test of endurance behind us.  With COVID-19 case counts falling and Utah’s vaccination rates picking up, what safety protocols remain in place in Canyons […]

Virtual Groundbreaking to Celebrate the New Peruvian Park Elementary

The Peruvian Park Panthers are getting a new home — and we’re celebrating with a ceremonial turning of dirt! Families, students, teachers and school staff are invited to participate in a virtual groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on a rebuild of Peruvian Park Elementary at 5:30 on Tuesday, March 30. Due to […]

On Year Anniversary of Pandemic, CSD Holds Final Vaccination COVID-19 Clinic

Hope springs eternal as Canyons District, alongside the rest of the world, starts to emerge from literal and metaphorical long and hard seasons of COVID-19, the virus that has upended life and learning for a year.   Cheers erupted at Mount Jordan Middle on Thursday, March 11 at about 7 p.m. — the final moment of […]

Groundbreaking to Celebrate the New Glacier Hills Elementary

Combined, Bell View and Edgemont elementary schools have more than 115 years of history to look back upon — and now build upon — as they come together to form a new school. Soon, the Bell View Mustangs and Edgemont Eagles will be known as the Glacier Hills Yetis, a cool name for an even […]

Free Social and Emotional Wellness Screenings

We’re nearly one full lap around the calendar since the start of the pandemic, and with vaccinations picking up and case counts falling, the finish line is in sight. We all look forward to this marathon of a sprint being over. But, as any long-distance athlete can attest, when the intensity and endorphins fade, what’s […]

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
