Retiring Superintendent Jim Briscoe Lauded as a Builder, Unifier

From the early days of his career, when he worked as a social studies and math teacher, to his later years overseeing school districts in several states, Dr. Jim Briscoe had one common theme that followed him through: He was a builder. From the moment he arrived in Canyons District, Briscoe started construction on community […]

Brighton Quadruplets Make CSD’s Class of 2020 Even More Historic

When the Searle quadruplets headed off to their first full day of school 12 years ago, their mother, Jennifer, did a cartwheel in the Canyon View Elementary playground to celebrate. She followed it up with three more across her front lawn when she got home — one for each child.  Now that her teens are graduating […]

Jordan Valley Unveils Bright, New Logo to Embody School’s Adaptable Spirit

When Jordan Valley School set out to update their logo, a staid black-and-white mountain silhouette dating back to 1975, they wound up venturing in the near-opposite direction. Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
