Crowds Gather to Celebrate Alta View Ribbon Cutting

It’s easy for Alta View Principal Karen Medlin to choose her favorite feature of her brand new school. “The light,” she says with a smile and a twinkle in her eye. “It’s beautiful.” From the front office, which is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame a view of the mountains, to the hallways upstairs that […]

Kick Off the School Year with Real Monarchs

The start of a new school year with its new routines, rules and expectations can be stressful for children and parents. At Canyons District, it’s something to celebrate.  Per tradition, CSD schools will literally roll out the red carpet to greet students the first day of school. The celebratory start helps students feel welcome while […]

You’re Invited! Join us for the Grand Opening of Alta View

As Alta View students looked out of their classroom windows last year, they saw a strange shape taking place in the corner of the field behind the school. What looked, at first, like a jumble of beams and blocks was no mystery, however. They knew they were watching the creation of the schoolhouse that would […]

Ribbon Cutting: Help us Celebrate the New Midvale Middle

When architects of the new Midvale Middle suggested cloistering the library in a quiet corner of the building, the school’s Media Specialist said, “Sorry, but that just won’t do.” The library, she explained, should be at the center of the school. It should be an open, inviting space for students to hang out with friends, […]

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
