In Canyons District, we believe all children deserve an education matched to their highest aspirations, interests and needs — including advanced learners.
If your child has an insatiable curiosity, a need to explore subjects in surprising depth, or ability to quickly learn complex information, consider applying to test into Canyons District’s gifted and talented magnet program, SALTA. Students in kindergarten through the seventh grade can 线上申请 starting Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The deadline for submitting an application is midnight on Friday, Oct. 4. Late applications will not be accepted.
Supporting Advanced Learners Toward Achievement — or SALTA — serves students who exhibit exceptional cognitive abilities.
“Every child learns differently, and school should be a place where every child is challenged to reach their potential,” said SALTA coordinator Halley Kirk. “Learningexperiences in SALTA allow students to explore subjects in greater depth and learn from teachers who are specially trained to work with gifted students.”

Due to the time-intensive and rigorous nature of the process for determining a student’s fit for the program, parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the testing requirements well before completing an application.
