Board of Education Approves New Canyons Administrative Appointments

The Canyons Board of Education and Administration are pleased announce the following administrative appointments: Deidre Walbeck, currently serving as the Assistant Principal at Copperview Elementary, will become Principal at Oakdale Elementary.  She will replace Lori Jones, who is retiring. Carolee Mackay, an Achievement Coach at Sandy Elementary, will become Assistant Principal at Copperview Elementary. Eric Gardner, the Assistant Principal at Mount Jordan Middle, will become Principal of Bella Vista Elementary. He will replace Sandra Dahl-Houlihan, who is retiring. 14 CSD Schools Earn Healthier US School Challenge Awards

Feeding elementary school kids is a tricky business – especially when it comes to teaching students about nutrition, encouraging physical activity and serving healthy, delicious drinks and meals that even picky eaters won’t refuse. ‘Read Today’ Honors Achievement at 4 Canyons Schools

The spotlight is shining bright on four Canyons District schools for their achievements in reading and voluntarism. East Midvale, Willow Springs, Midvalley, and Sandy elementaries have received special honors from the KSL-TV “Read Today” program. The schools last academic year enlisted 200 volunteer tutors who donated more than 6,100 hours to reading one-on-one to students. The special reading celebration drew some 800 students and their families to the South Towne Expo Center Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 to play games, dance, and receive free books for their accomplishments. Volunteers Support CSD Schools For United Way Day of Caring

In recognition of the heroes of Sept. 11, 2001 – both those who gave their lives and those who survived – a group of everyday heroes in our own community reached out to help several Canyons District schools as part of the United Way’s Day of Caring and September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.
