The Canyons Board of Education will continue to do the public’s business – and patrons can participate, even in this era of social distancing. In keeping with Utah’s stay-at-home directive, we invite patrons to participate and provide public comment remotely during the scheduled Tuesday, April 21 meeting of the Canyons Board of Education. Midvale Middle Proposal Midvale Middle Principal Mindy Robison proposed $231,250 in additional funding to reduce the school’s class sizes and provide after-school programing three days a week. Robison seeks four additional Full-Time Equivalent employees to provide interventions, especially in mathematics. In response to current student achievement data–29 percent are making expected growth on the Math Inventory–Robison wants to hire two additional math teachers, for sixth and seventh grades, and two additional teachers for Midvale’s English language learners. Dual Language Immersion Signaling Canyons’ firm commitment to dual-language immersion programs in the coming school year and beyond, the Board of Education approved a two-school expansion of CSD’s Spanish-English DLI program. After receiving positive feedback on the proposal from the Altara and Midvalley elementary school communities, the Board of Education voted to launch Spanish DLI classes at those two schools in the coming school year. Canyons District Launches National Search for New Superintendent

A national search for the next superintendent of the Canyons School District launched today, Monday, Feb. 10, 2020. The application to become Canyons’ fourth-ever chief executive was made available to prospective candidates at 8 a.m. Advertisements promoting the search will be appearing in national publications and on education-related websites until the end of the five-week application window.
