Take a Bow: Celebrating Canyons District’s 2025 Retirees

We’re turning the spotlight on our retiring Canyons District colleagues. Join us as we invite them to take a bow while we shower them with appreciation for their years of dedicated service to students, families, and colleagues.

The District will honor these remarkable professionals on Thursday, May 15 at a by-invitation Retirees Banquet. Schools and District departments are also recognizing retirees with Open House events throughout the District. To add an Open House to the list below, email the retiree’s name, and the event date, time, and location to communications@canyonsdistrict.org.

Henry Adams once said, “A teacher affects eternity.” Whether they devoted their careers to teaching, counseling, coaching, leading, preparing meals, transporting students, or keeping schools running smoothly, CSD’s retirees have made a lasting impact. Their influence will continue long after the curtain falls on their careers.

Now, it’s time for them to take center stage and bask in the applause. To our retirees—bravo! You have left a legacy worth celebrating, and we wish you joy and fulfillment in this next act of life.

  • An Open House for Cathleen Schino will be Friday, May 16, 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Sprucewood Elementary, 12025 S. 1000 East, Sandy.
  • An Open House for Lisa Moon will be Friday, May 9, 3-4 p.m. at Glacier Hills Elementary, 1085 East Galena Drive, Sandy.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
