Date Change! The Surplus Sale At Mount Jordan Will Be Aug. 21

The date for the surplus sale at the old Mount Jordan Middle School, 9360 S. 300 East, has changed.  Instead of the sale being conducted on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 it will be Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013.

The sale will be from 4-6 p.m. at the school.
Cash or credit cards accepted. All sales are final.

The school will soon be torn down to make way for the new Mount Jordan Middle School, which is scheduled to be under construction for two years. The Mount Jordan school community will be housed at the old Crescent View Middle School, 11150 S. 300 East, until fall 2015.

The new school will be funded by proceeds from a $250 million bond approved by the public in spring 2010 for new and renovated schools.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
