Back-to-School Registration Opens Aug. 3 — Take a Minute to Prepare Now

Save the date! Back-to-school registration for the 2026–2027 school year opens Monday, Aug. 3 at 8:30 a.m.

All students, whether they are starting kindergarten or returning for more academic adventures, must complete the online registration process.

This year, Canyons School District is introducing an upgraded version of our student information system, Skyward Qmlativ, designed with a more modern look, improved navigation, and a more intuitive, user-friendly experience to make registration and access to student information easier than ever.

Families will continue to log in through the same, secure Family Access they’ve used in the past.

Here are a few steps families can take now to ensure a smooth registration process:

NEW STUDENTS TO CANYONS: If your child is new to Canyons, and has never attended one of our schools, you will need to first create a Skyward Family Access account by completing the New Student Online Enrollment form. Your Skyward Family Access account is the gateway you’ll use this year, and every subsequent year, to register your children. Once you’ve created the account, starting on Aug. 3, you can then log in to Skyward and select New Student Enrollment to complete the back-to-school registration process for each child.

RETURN STUDENTS: If your child has attended CSD in the past: You will use your Guardian Skyward Family Access ID and Password to begin the registration process. Families are encouraged to take a few minutes now to confirm they know their Family Access username and password before registration opens. If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset it now through this link: Forgotten Username/Password Assistance. Families needing additional assistance, may contact their school or the Canyons Help Desk at 801-826-5544. Once logged into Skyward, simply follow the prompts and make personal identification updates as needed.

As we get closer to Aug. 3, families will receive an email with detailed instructions.

When registering, you will replenish your school lunch account and pay any school fees using a credit card. Families can apply for fee waivers by completing the free and reduced-price lunch application during registration.

While registration for most students will be done online, you may still register in person if you prefer. Contact your child’s school for the specific dates and times they will be open for your walk-in registration convenience.

For anyone needing extra assistance, Canyons District is hosting two in-person registration events:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 5, 4-7 p.m., Midvale Middle School (7852 S. Pioneer St., Midvale)
  • Thursday, Aug. 6, 4-7 p.m., Mt. Jordan Middle School (9351 S. Mountaineer Ln, Sandy)

Need help logging in to Skyward? Call 801-826-5525.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
