While students enjoy a well-deserved summer break, Canyons School District employees are hard at work preparing for the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 17. Across the District, crews are refreshing campuses, completing school improvement projects, and making important technology upgrades.
One of the biggest upgrades happening behind the scenes this summer is the transition to Skyward Qmlativ, a modernized, more user-friendly version of the trusted portal families use to access student grades, attendance, health information, fees and payments, and back-to-school registration.
What Families Can Expect
To prepare for the transition, the District must move data from the current Skyward platform into the new system. Beginning Friday, June 26, Skyward access will be temporarily paused while the migration takes place.
The new Skyward Qmlativ platform will go live on July 20, 2026. At that time, families will be able to log in using the same username and password they currently use for Skyward.
New Student Enrollment Temporarily Paused
The District’s New Student Enrollment portal is also unavailable during the transition period and will reopen when Skyward Qmlativ launches July 20. Families who started, but did not complete, the enrollment process before the transition may need to restart their application once the new system becomes available.
In the meantime, families interested in enrolling a student in Canyons schools are encouraged to complete an intake form. A member of the enrollment team will follow up with instructions and next steps as soon as enrollment reopens.
Back-to-School Registration Opens Aug. 3
Annual online registration for the 2026-2027 school year begins Monday, Aug. 3, 2026.
As in previous years, parents and guardians will be asked to review and verify student, family, and emergency contact information before the start of school. While registration will still take place through Skyward, families will notice a more modern interface and a streamlined process designed to make completing annual registration easier.
Detailed instructions will be shared with families through ParentSquare and the U.S. Postal Service before registration opens. Tutorials, guides, and other resources will also be posted online.
Mobile App Users
Families who use the Skyward Mobile App will need to reconnect to Canyons School District after the transition to Qmlativ.
Step-by-step instructions will be shared following the July 20 launch and will also be available through the Family Access portal.
