New Director of Purchasing Announced Among Eight Administrative Hires

The Canyons Board of Education and Administration are pleased to announce eight new administrative appointments. 

Effective immediately, Nancy Webb has been promoted from senior buyer to Director of the District’s Department of Purchasing. She replaces Gary Hansen who is retiring after 30 years in the purchasing industry, including 15 years at Canyons.

Also announced were the following Assistant Principal hires being made as part of an effort to backfill open positions and give elementary schools more administrative support. Each appointee’s school-specific assignment will be decided at future Board meetings as the Board weighs additional recommendations for administrative hires. 

  • Noemi Jones, who currently works as an administrative intern at Bonneville Elementary in the Orem School District
  • Tonya Rauch, currently an instructional coach at Providence Hall in Herriman
  • Amber Rock, who now works as a Title I extended learning specialist in Canyons’ Federal and State Programs Department
  • Amy Brown, an assistant principal at Rock Canyon Elementary
  • Alisha Wheeler, an instructional coach at Copper Mountain Middle School in Jordan School District
  • Scott Taylor, currently an administrative intern at two elementary schools in Granite School District
  • Wesley Morgan, a physics teacher and curriculum leader at Springville High in Nebo School District

 

These Assistant Principal appointments are effective with the start of the 2025-2026 contract year.

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
