Kick Off the School Year at CSD’s Back-to-School Bash with Real Salt Lake on Aug. 6

Real Salt Lake is helping Canyons District kick off the school year.

The Saturday, Aug. 6 soccer game at Rio Tinto Stadium, which is located in the heart of CSD boundaries, is Canyons District’s Back-to-School Celebration Night.

Discount tickets are available for the Canyons District community. Click here to access an easy-to-use online tool to buy tickets to Real Salt Lake’s 8 p.m. game against Los Angeles FC.

Canyons is partnering with Real Salt Lake to give families an opportunity to enjoy a fun outing on the weekend before classes start anew.

On Monday, Aug. 15, students will be back in class, preparing themselves to be college- and career-ready when they graduate from high school. Canyons’ teachers and Education Support Professionals will return in a few weeks to prepare to greet students on the first day of school.

The Canyons Administration has been hard at work on plans for the school year. New this year: CSD schools will release 90 minutes early every Friday so teachers can collaborate and focus on their instruction. Families are encouraged to review the new bus schedules for Friday afternoons.

The Canyons Board of Education and Administration hope the CSD community had a wonderful summer full of rest and relaxation.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
