Corner Canyon High Climbs to ‘Top 5’ in Utah

Corner Canyon High is gaining ground among Utah’s highest-performing high schools.

The Chargers climbed two spots to No. 5 in Utah, according to the U.S. News & World Report’s 2026–2027 Best High Schools rankings — a showing buoyed by its graduation rate, participation and performance in Advanced Placement courses, and achievement on state assessments.

Corner Canyon is one of four Canyons School District high schools to earn recognition in the latest U.S. News rankings. Alta, Brighton, Corner Canyon and Hillcrest high schools all earned “Best High Schools” status.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 18,000 public high schools across the country, examining measures of college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rates.

Schools ranking among the top 40 percent nationally earn designation as a 2026–2027 U.S. News Best High School.

“We’re proud to see our schools recognized among Utah’s best,” said Tom Sherwood, Canyons District’s Director of High Schools. “Each of our high schools has its own programs and traditions while sharing a commitment to high expectations and preparing students for what comes next. This recognition speaks to the exceptional work happening across all Canyons schools every day.”

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
