Canyons District to Begin Online Registration Aug. 7

Registering for school just got easier.

As always, back-to-school registration for Canyons District can be done online when it’s convenient for families. But now, when families sign into CSD’s registration portal, they’ll find streamlined step-by-step instructions to make the whole experience a whole lot easier.

For return registrants, some demographic and contact information will be pre-populated. There will be fewer steps to complete for all families who can also look forward to having a “Welcome to Canyons” information kit with helpful back-to-school tips mailed directly to them.

Registration for the 2023-2024 school year starts Monday, Aug. 7 at 8:30 a.m.

Have vacation plans for that week? Still weighing your back-to-school options? Not to worry. You can complete the registration process when it’s convenient for your family. Families are encouraged to register as soon as possible, however, to assist schools in finalizing teaching assignments and class schedules.

The registration process this year will take less time but still feel familiar to families.

NEW STUDENTS TO CANYONS: If your child is new to Canyons, and has never attended one of our schools, you will need to first create a Skyward Family Access account by completing the New Student Online Enrollment form. Your Skyward Family Access account is the gateway you’ll use this year, and every subsequent year, to register your children. Once you’ve created the account, and starting on Aug. 7, you can then log in to Skyward and select New Student Enrollment to complete the back-to-school registration process for each child.

RETURN STUDENTS: If your child has attended CSD in the past: You will use your Guardian Skyward Family Access ID and Password to begin the registration process. Once logged in to Skyward, simply follow the prompts and make personal identification updates as needed. Families will receive an email with login information.

When registering, you will replenish your school lunch account and pay any school fees using a credit card. Families can apply for fee waivers by completing the free and reduced-price lunch application during registration.

While registration for most students will be done online, you may still register in person if you prefer. Contact your child’s school for the specific dates and times they will be open for your walk-in registration convenience.

Need help logging in to Skyward? Call 801-826-5525.

NOTE: To provide construction crews the space and time they need to complete the new Union Middle School, the Bobcats will hold walk-in registration dates at Hillcrest High’s STEM Building, 7350 S. 900 East, Midvale. Current students may come to STEM Building, located as a stand-alone building on the northwest side of Hillcrest between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., starting Aug. 7. all the Main Office at 801-826-7500. Walk-in registration dates for new students are as follows:

  • Thursday, Aug. 10, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 11, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
