Curtains Ready to Rise on CSD High School Musicals

Places, people, places: It’s showtime.
Curtains are almost ready to go up on the annual fall musicals produced by Canyons’ five traditional high schools. Be sure to get your tickets early because many of the shows sell-out well in advance. All shows will be performed in their schools’ auditoriums.

  • Brighton – “Seussical: The Musical,” Nov. 5-7 and Nov. 9 at 7 p.m., and a 1 p.m. matinee on Nov. 7.  Cost of an adult ticket is $9.  Tickets for students are $4.
  • Alta – “Cinderella,” Nov. 19-21 and Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.  Tickets purchased before the day of the show are $8.25.  Cost is $9 at the door.
  • Jordan – “Urinetown,” Nov. 12-14, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.  Cost is $7
  • Corner Canyon – “Shrek The Musical,” Nov. 19-23 at 7 p.m.  Tickets are available online at for $8 in advance.  Cost is $10 at the door –but you might risk the show being sold out.
  • Hillcrest –  “Carousel.” Nov. 19-23, 7 p.m.  Tickets are available at  Price of seat depends on the section.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
