Comcast Cares Day is Saturday at Peruvian Park Elementary

Join us Saturday at Peruvian Park Elementary for Comcast Cares Day .

The April 27, 2013 service-oriented day starts at 8 a.m. Work will wrap up around noon.

Take a minute to fill out the registration form, which can be accessed on the Peruvian Park Web site.

Canyons District is thrilled Comcast has chosen Peruvian Park, 1545 E. 8425 South, for the day of clean up and revitalization. Comcast provides some of resources and volunteers, and the company makes a donation for every volunteer who arrives to help.

Comcast Cares Day began in 2001 with 6,100 volunteers at nearly 110 projects. Today, it’s an annual celebration of our year-round work to power dreams in our communities.

Breakfast and lunch, as well as a T-shirt, will be provided to volunteers.

Information about Comcast Cares Day can be found in the attached fliers.

Questions? Call Kathy Anderson at 801-826-5160 in the Office of Partnerships and Community Service.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
