Canyons District Teacher of the Year Eastmont Middle teacher Emma Moss is the 2020 Canyons District Teacher of the Year. As CSD’s top teacher, she will represent 34,000-student Canyons in the annual Utah Teacher of the Year selection process, which is part of the National Teacher of the Year program. Midvale Middle Proposal Midvale Middle Principal Mindy Robison proposed $231,250 in additional funding to reduce the school’s class sizes and provide after-school programing three days a week. Robison seeks four additional Full-Time Equivalent employees to provide interventions, especially in mathematics. School Lunch, Breakfast Prices A small bump to the cost of meals in CSD cafeterias was approved by the Board of Education. Even though food and labor costs have risen, this is the first increase for CSD school-made and -served meals since the founding of the District in 2009. Next year, elementary breakfasts will be $1 and elementary lunches will be $1.25. Secondary-school breakfast will be $1.25 and secondary-school lunches will cost $2.25. Dual Language Immersion Signaling Canyons’ firm commitment to dual-language immersion programs in the coming school year and beyond, the Board of Education approved a two-school expansion of CSD’s Spanish-English DLI program.
