To some, Feb. 9, 2016 was National Pizza Day. To others, it was Pancake Day – but for Canyons District, Cottonwood Heights and Brighton High School, it was Simi Fehoko day.

Cottonwood Heights City Council passed a resolution at a recent meeting in honor of the Bengal’s accomplishments on and off the field.

“Not many people get a day named after them, but that’s the case today,” Cottonwood Heights Mayor Kelvyn Cullimore told the council. “Simi is a great ambassador for his school and community.”

Cullimore pointed out Fehoko’s academic accomplishments, like earning a spot on the honor roll, as well as his athletic achievements. Fehoko, who has committed to play football at Stanford University, recently received an Honorable Mention in Parade Magazine for the 2016 Parade All-America Football Team. He is also the Gatorade Player of the Year, a finalist for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Player of the Year, the state record-holder for career receiving yards and the Max Preps Utah Player of the Year. In his spare time, Fehoko has earned four varsity letters in Brighton basketball as well as football.

Fehoko’s fans from across the country got in on the celebration of his special day. The U.S. Army All American Bowl tweeted,  “Happy Simi Fehoko Day,” while coaches and friends gave kudos to the senior.
