Let’s Tackle Child Hunger With The Souper Bowl of Caring

The Canyons Education Foundation has teamed up with KUTV 2News for the Souper Bowl of Caring as part of a national campaign to tackle child hunger. In the weeks leading up to the Feb. 2 Super Bowl, CSD students and employees will have the opportunity to seek donations to help fellow students in need.

Think about it: How much is your budget for Super Bowl snacks?  Just take a few bucks (or more) from that amount and donate the cash to this worthy cause. Chances are you’ll still have plenty to munch on during the game – and you’ll have helped feed some hungry children.

The District is working with CSD Homeless Liaison Connie Crosby to ensure that proceeds go directly to students with the greatest need. Donations are accepted online or at the Foundation Offices at the Canyons Administration Building, 9150 S. 500 West. A statewide KUTV telethon is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31.

How can you get your family involved? Watch this video by KUTV sports anchor David James.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
