A public forum to gather community input on short- and long-term facility needs in Canyons District will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 15 at Alta High, 11055 S. Hawk Highway. 

The feedback is important to the work of a Board of Education-appointed Facilities Committee that has been meeting since the start of this school year. While the committee is studying issues that impact all parts of CSD, members have focused much attention on the current and possible future enrollment at Corner Canyon High, which is on moratorium status because of overcrowding.

To the end of addressing this immediate concern, the Facilities Committee is creating a draft proposal that would address enrollment issues through some boundary alterations. Any proposed changes, if approved by the Board, would be effective in fall 2017 for incoming freshmen, giving families two years to plan and prepare. 

However, committee members would like to receive input, address concerns and hear ideas from stakeholders before a final proposal is created and presented to the Board of Education. The committee, made up mostly of parents of Canyons District students, anticipates having a proposal ready by fall 2015.
