The Canyons School District Compliance Office functions as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates complaints and compliance issues within the organization relating to civil rights including, but not limited to, Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1972, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. One goal of the Compliance Office is to respond to these concerns in a fair and responsible manner in order to stop offensive, unwelcome, or problematic behavior.
The Compliance Office also assists in educating the Canyons School District community about identifying, responding to, and preventing discrimination and harassment based on race, color, national origin, religion, disability, age, and gender—including unwelcome sexual and/or gender-related misconduct, such as discrimination and harassment based on sexual orientation and identity.
