Hundreds of smiling, laughing and cheering Canyons School District students participated Friday, May 14, in the District’s first-ever Sports Day for children in special education programs. The event, held at Alta High School, was for all elementary-age students whose Individualized Education Programs call for special education services. Participants ranged from students in wheelchairs to those with mild cases of autism. After a Parade of Athletes, students participated in four separate events: kick ball, target throwing, dancing and an obstacle course.The four events were all based on IEP-goal skills and were designed to give the students the opportunity to show the…

Register Now for Summer Block

Canyons School District is registering students now for Summer Block classes, including hands-on science courses and college-entrance test preparation, to allow students move ahead in earning credits for high school graduation or earn make-up credits. The newly offered Canyons Summer Block classes run from June 7 to July 2, 2010. Four courses – Intro to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math); Wasatch Front Biology (Face of Fitness); Financial Literacy; and Computer Technology – each offer .5 credit toward graduation.
