Black top or green grass? When it comes to open space by Butler Middle School, the Canyons Board of Education is taking the field.
The Board has unanimously approved a plan to preserve open space and pursue the development of a soccer field in front of the newly rebuilt Butler Middle School.
A kickoff celebration for the new field's development is set for Thursday, March 13, 2014. The community is invited to gather at the site at Butler Middle School at 5:30 p.m. for a social and reception. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.
"Open space is in short supply," said Board Member Kim Horiuchi, who brought the proposal to the Board in February. "Preserving open space and developing a soccer field will benefit generations to come."
The Board's vote to preserve open space and pursue the development of a soccer field came in its Business Meeting on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.
