Nutrition Services wanted to congratulate 4 of our elementary schools; Brookwood Elementary, Granite Elementary, Oakdale Elementary, and Peruvian Park Elementary for receiving the bronze level for the Healthier US School Challenge. The goal of the Healthier US School Challenge (HUSSC) is to improve the health of the Nation’s children by promoting healthier school environments. To help meet the goal, the Nutrition Services Department works with the school to identify changes to in the school that improve the quality of the foods served, provide students with nutrition education, and provide students with physical education and opportunities for physical activities. Each school received a plaque, and a $500 monetary reward for meeting the bronze level challenge. Healthy Sandy also donated $300 towards the school for promoting healthy living in the school setting. We are so proud of our schools, and hope they continue to have a healthy active lifestyle.
