This week is National School Lunch Week! The first National School Lunch Week (NSLW) was established in 1946 by President Harry S. Truman because “Nothing is more important in our national life than the welfare of our children, and proper nourishment comes first in attaining this welfare." The second week of October was designated as NSLW and has been celebrated ever since. It has been many years since then and School Nutrition Programs have experienced many changes, but all of which have been to improve the quality of the lunches served to the children of America. This year’s theme is “School Lunch- What’s Cooking, “and is directed towards appreciating and learning about the new changes to school lunch. If anyone has any questions about the changes to school lunch, contact us or explore for yourself the new government mandated changes to school lunch. If you would like to see what your child is being offered for lunch, feel free to go to your child's school and join us for school lunch!
