New high school in Draper: Community input has been taken at three public meetings; concerns centered on traffic. A comprehensive traffic study is underway. Meetings with the Draper design-review committee and Planning Commission continue.
Midvale Elementary: A community input meeting is scheduled Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at the school. Superintendent Doty and CFO Keith Bradford recommended the Board examine the school's size in terms of its student achievement goals.
Albion Middle School: Preliminary drafts address lighting, seismic safety and closing off of open classrooms.
Butler Middle: Discussion with the school community has centered on whether rebuild on site or on adjacent property, and how, if at all, Butler Elementary school might fit into a larger campus proposal. The Board voted Dec. 7 to hire VCBO, the same firm designing Butler Middle, for Butler Elementary to explore possibilities for both schools. Community input meetings are expected after the holidays.
Sandy Elementary: The school, rebuilt following a fire a few years ago, will be retrofitted to meet seismic code.
Sandy Elementary will receive seismic upgrades. The school was rebuilt in 2005, but was not updated to meet current seismic codes at that time. No community meetings are planned due to the targeted nature of the project.
